Music Industry Truths part 2

Hi, I'm Hasty and I've been a musician for the past 10 years. These are some of the industry facts that I haven't heard others talk about them. And this is actually part two because I have so many things to mention in these videos. 10 years is a long time. Well, we're going to start with number six. is that discipline is more important than talent. And again, this is one of the things that is suitable for every single career, I believe, but specifically in the music industry, you know, the people who have discipline are going to make it and have an easier journey than the ones who simply rely on their talents. Number seven, every artist is sensitive and have their own rules. I think this actually goes without saying, but I've I've met so many other singers, so many other songwriters that well, we all are sensitive and I I've always known that because you know when you enter a field when you're 12, you kind of pick up on things way easier. But I have met some artists who really have had crazy rules and we fell apart because of really really questionable simple things that were not a big deal to me, but it was a big deal to them. And I'm actually no different. I do think there are some things that are huge deals to me, but to another artist, they are again questionable, but it kind of feels like you're walking on eggshells all the time, which is not fun. And there is another fact that I will come to later. I don't know when because I wrote crazy list, but yeah. Uh, number eight, you choose what you're worth. music industry is something that gives you a lot of control and I do think you have more control than you think especially when you're starting early and you know you are not jumping into a box with a strict label and strict rules. But even if you are, you have more control than anything and you choose how much you're worth. And there is no specific number. You know, we have musicians who, you know, you hear crazy things about and they take some actions that to a smaller artist might be really huge but to the art to the other artist it's pretty normal. So you choose how much you are worth and if you believe in that then that's where you're going to get which is a blessing and a curse because if you don't know how to control that power you're going to have some problems. Um, number nine, theory can be learned, but talent is rare. But then again, talent isn't enough. I'm a singer who mostly relies on talent. I have never been into theory. Honestly, theory bores me, but I know it is essential. Well, and the reason that I I've been comfortable is because I've had people around me who knew the theory and all the technical stuff that I did not feel excited about learning. But you know, theory and technical stuff, they're always there. Talent is hard to come across. So, if you have talent, you have to cherish that. But also know that the theory is also important. But then again, talent isn't enough. And this I've heard so many people say and I do completely agree with it. And the last fact for this video is that if you don't know who you want to be, others will choose for you. This comes back to the other point that I mentioned, the control that you have. You have so much control over your life that you would honestly feel dizzy because we often forget it. Especially as artists, you know, we are more sensitive and that can, you know, be an obstacle when we are trying to come to terms over how much power we have. And you have heard many stories that you know the labels and the industry requires successful musicians to be a specific person. Now if you come to terms with yourself and you choose who you want to be and who you want to represent the the you know the personality that you want to represent as an artist and then you know you you don't get to stay that person. You have to change but they will always have to be on the same lane. And if you don't know that, then others will decide for you. This is actually a music fact and a life fact, you know, if you don't know who you want to be as an artist and you just do anything, then the people who listen to you, they will tell you who they want you to be. Or, you know, maybe your family would or a manager would or your band would, you know, So you can either be okay with turning into whoever others shape you to be or you can you know choose that for yourself which is both of those are difficult. I think none of them is easy, but you know, you have to be okay with whatever you choose and not nag about it on the internet. But yeah, those are the this was the second part. Yeah. And of course, like I said, I have a lot of these. And I hope to see you around soon. Lers.
